Student Destinations: From Massage to Beauty Therapist

When starting a new course, you might find that you become interested in different treatments that you’d never considered before. After completing their initial training, many NSHB students return to undertake further qualifications, having developed their passion for the industry with us over time. Our student and massage therapist, Victoria, is a prime example of someone who has diversified and extended their treatment list. We sat down with Victoria to discuss her journey so far, as well as exploring her plans for the future.

Which course did you study at the school?

I studied Level 3 Massage in 2021 and loved it!  I then decided to enrol on the Level 2 Beauty course this year too.

When did you complete your course?

I completed my massage course in December 2021.

Why did you choose to study at the school?

I had heard great things about the school, I really liked that the courses left you feeling ready with the knowledge to start your own business. They train you to a level where you feel confident to go out and start taking on clients straight away!

Your greatest piece of advice for anyone thinking of joining the course.

I would say to go for it, don’t overthink it, and make sure you enjoy it! The school team are so supportive. But also, be prepared to make time outside of class for homework.

Your top tips to get motivated.

Plan your week! Set time aside for the important things. Keep your mind focused on your goals.

Your go-to place for inspiration, and why?

Instagram!  It’s a great place to connect with other likeminded therapists, gain new tips and tricks, and keep inspired by other local businesses.

What are you most proud of so far?

I’m proud that I completed the course and started my business all whilst on maternity leave with two young children at home.

What are you doing now your course has finished?

I’m working part time as a massage therapist and starting the beauty therapy course, all whilst making the most of what’s left of my maternity leave.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?

Within the next 5 years I would love to expand my skills by learning some new disciplines. It would also be a dream to have my own treatment room.
