New course! – Introduction to Counselling Skills

We are really excited to announce the launch of a new course – An Introduction to Counselling Skills! This is something a bit different for us here at the Norwich School of Hair & Beauty – but something that we feel will be of great value to many of you and something we are passionate in providing.

The course is designed to encourage people to live and work better together – After all, our relationships and understanding of one another are essential in everyday life! If you have an interest in developing counselling skills, understanding human interaction and increasing your personal effectiveness at home or in the workplace, then this course would be perfect for you. All ages and backgrounds are welcome – past students have included teachers, social workers, wellbeing therapists, parents, health workers, HR, artists, musicians and those from the voluntary sector (to name a few!) After completing the Introduction to Counselling Skills, you will be able to move on to the Certificate in Counselling Skills and Part-Time Diploma in Counselling.

The course itself is taught by TEDx speaker Andrea Rippon, who is amongst the 100 most inspiring women in Norfolk. Andrea has over 20 years experience in her field – find out more about her here. The course will include teaching and demonstration, group discussion, guided experiential listening exercises, observing others, peer and tutor feedback and also some time focusing on your own personal development (as that is really important too!). With only 8 students per class, this will ensure you are able to maximise your learning experience.

Now for a quick insight into the course! –  You will be taught in accordance with the Six Necessary and Sufficient Conditions of Therapeutic Personality Change as introduced by Carl Rogers, one of the most influential psychologists of the 20th century. This approach is one that uses ‘relationship’ as the means to change, grow and develop and can be found in mental health, caring, parenting, education and support/voluntary sectors,. It is also the primary approach recommended for those who have dementia. You will learn how to provide someone with an environment of genuine non-judgmental understanding which is an amazing skill and outlook to have.

If you have any questions about the course, please give us a call on 01603 928 900. You can also call us to book or visit the link by clicking here.

Due to COVID, all sessions are now taught online so you can learn in the comfort of your own home. You will be expected to attend every session.
