At NSHB, we’re passionate about training people for real careers, so we’re incredibly proud to have worked with Norfolk Passport to help develop a new group of massage therapists for their growing spa team.
Earlier this year, Sam worked closely with Megan Cross-Gower, Head of Spa at Norfolk Passport, to create a programme that combined a recognised massage qualification with the practical standards and experience needed to work within a professional spa environment.
Seven therapists have now successfully completed the programme and begun the next stage of their careers.
From Training to a Real Career Opportunity
What made this programme particularly exciting was that there was a genuine career opportunity waiting at the end of it.
Norfolk Passport interviewed and selected candidates who wanted to train as massage therapists and join their spa team. Successful candidates then completed their professional massage qualification with NSHB before having the opportunity to work self-employed within Norfolk Passport’s spa locations.
The programme was designed specifically around the needs of Norfolk Passport rather than simply placing learners onto one of our existing courses.
Learners developed the practical massage techniques, anatomy and physiology knowledge, consultation skills, health and safety awareness and professional standards needed to work confidently with clients.
As part of the programme, training also took place within the spa itself, allowing Norfolk Passport to introduce therapists to their own treatment protocols, guest experience and expectations before they began working professionally.
For us, this is exactly how vocational education should work, quality training connected directly to opportunities within industry.
Seven New Massage Therapists
We’re incredibly proud of the seven therapists who successfully completed the programme.
They worked hard throughout their qualification, completing practical training, assessments and theory examinations before progressing into their roles.
Seeing learners move from the classroom into paid self-employed work within the spa industry is incredibly rewarding and demonstrates what can happen when education providers and employers work closely together.
An Exciting New Chapter for FFOLKESPA
Their qualification couldn’t have come at a more exciting time for Norfolk Passport, with FFOLKESPA at The Ffolkes continuing to expand its wellness offering.
The newly opened Coastal Space marks another exciting development for the spa, creating even more opportunities for guests to relax, recharge and experience everything FFOLKESPA has to offer.
As Norfolk Passport continues to invest in its spa experiences, we’re delighted to have played a part in developing therapists who can grow alongside the business.
