We love to hear the success stories from our past students, many choosing different paths depending on the course they have taken, but one thing in common is that they have all ‘chosen’ their dream career and are getting paid to do exactly what they love doing.
One of our more recently qualified Makeup Artist students took a change of career, aged 36 and hesitant about training whilst working, being an older student (she wasn’t!) and leaving a familiar career she had known for 15 years.
Claire Baker had been working as an estate agent for 15 years and just realised she wasn’t getting enjoyment from it. Married and a mum of 2, looking into alternative careers seemed daunting with worries of being an older student and training whilst still working.
Claire had a passion for makeup and decided to look into courses that could offer her a future career in it. Taking the plunge, she enrolled on a Level 2 Makeup course just one day a week.
Claire said “ I really enjoyed the course, it’s hard work as there is a lot of written/practical to do in a short space of time, but there is support there if you need it from the tutors, and they will help with your case studies and time management and it’s always best to get the work done each week rather than leaving till the end and trying to cram it in”

Claire has finished her career in estate agency and is delighted to be working for a high-end makeup brand in a department store as well as doing some freelance work including weddings and party makeovers in her spare time. She also set up a glitter bar and goes to several events around Norwich. She’s also proud to have had some of her work featured in a local magazine.
Claire added “Now that the course is finished, I realised what a big step it was to take the plunge and try something completely out of my comfort zone, but I’m so pleased that I did. It’s such a lovely feeling making people over and seeing them so pleased with their appearance. It’s also lovely to help brides and to be a small part of their special day. I think to make people feel good about themselves is the best feeling.”
Claire’s words for anyone unsure to follow a new path is
“Take the plunge, work hard, you won’t regret it.”
Claire finished the Level 2 Makeup Course in December 2018 and is now a qualified makeup artist.
