“Stay consistent, it really pays off” Abbie’s Hairdressing Journey
At NSHB, it’s not just about learning skills, it’s about building confidence, gaining a recognised qualification and stepping into the industry. Abbie’s journey on our VTCT Level 2 Hairdressing Diploma is a great example of that and she doesn’t complete until July this year.
Finding the Right Course
“I chose this course because I already had some previous hairdressing experience, and I knew the structure would suit me really well.”
For Abbie, it was important to find a part time hairdressing course in Norfolk, that worked around her life while still offering real progression.
“Being a year-long, intensive course that runs every other weekend meant I could fit it around my current job.”
She was also drawn to the practical side of the course:
“I really liked that it’s very hands-on, with models coming in regularly, and not too much theory when working in the salon environment.”
Building Skills, Confidence and Qualifications
Since starting her VTCT hairdressing course, Abbie has seen a huge shift in both her skills and confidence.
“I’ve built my skills and confidence massively, and it has helped me get my foot in the door with a salon, which I’m really proud of.”
Alongside completing her core training, she has also expanded her services:
“I’ve also completed the extension course, which has allowed me to expand my services and start offering extensions to clients.”
The Biggest Achievement
“I’m most proud of how much my confidence has grown, both in my abilities and working with clients.”
This is what a strong hairdressing qualification should do , not just teach skills, but build real confidence.
Advice for Future Students
“Stick with it and stay consistent, as it really pays off. You also get a lot of support from the staff, which makes a big difference.”
A simple message, but one that reflects the importance of consistency when completing our VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing.
Looking Ahead
Abbie has a clear direction for her future:
“I see myself working as a hairdresser full time and hopefully becoming a colour specialist.”
Services Abbie Now Offers

“What makes my business unique is the personal, friendly experience I offer each client. I take the time to really listen and understand what they want, while also giving honest advice.”
She’s focused not just on the technical side, but on building trust and confidence with every client.
“I’m passionate about building confidence in my clients as well as continuously improving my skills.”
