Meet Tommy: Aspiring Salon Owner by 25

‘In five years, I see myself still working at Millie Rose Hair and Beauty, continuing to learn and grow as a future hairdresser. I am incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by such skilled professionals who constantly guide and teach me. Their mentorship is helping me build a solid foundation of experience, which will allow me to grow my clientele and improve my skills.

My ultimate goal is to own my own salon before I turn 25, and I am determined to make that happen. I’ve always known that being a hairdresser is my calling, and the thought of owning a space where clients can come in feeling low on self-confidence and leave feeling beautiful and empowered is my biggest drive. I want to be able to create that kind of transformation and know that I had a part in helping someone see their true beauty. That’s what I aspire to achieve.

During my Level 2 Hairdressing Diploma, I am proud of how much I have developed my skills and techniques, building confidence in my abilities through practice and hands-on experience. Working in a salon has also been invaluable, as it has helped me grow my social skills and learn how to connect with clients in a relaxed and professional way. I enjoy creating a welcoming atmosphere where clients feel comfortable and sharing conversations with them, which adds a personal touch to the work I do. I look forward to continuing to grow in my career.

I chose Norwich school for hair and beauty because a colleague I worked with had chosen the school for her level 3 hairdressing diploma and after everything she had said about it, I knew that it would be the most rewarding and educational option for me, since my lessons at the school I have realised that I made the best decision I could have as already I have learnt so much from my tutors and other students as well. There is such a welcoming atmosphere in the school and they always tend to everyone’s individual needs.’
