What is a Complementary Therapist?

In today’s fast-paced world, the demand for holistic health practices is on the rise as more people look for natural, non-invasive ways to heal the mind, body, and spirit. If you’re passionate about wellness and interested in pursuing a career that supports this growing trend, our VTCT Level 2 Complementary Therapies qualification could be the perfect first step for you.

This course provides a solid foundation in complementary therapy techniques, helping you to embark on a rewarding career path in the holistic health industry.

But first…What does a Complementary Therapist do?

A Complementary Therapist will use a combination of:

– Pre-blended Oils: The use of pre-blended oils to promote relaxation and balance the mind when massaging.

– Massage Therapy Techniques: A variety of techniques aimed at relieving tension, improving circulation, and reducing stress.

– Reflexology Techniques: A technique that involves applying pressure to specific points on the feet, hands, or ears to stimulate healing in other parts of the body.

*These therapies are not meant to replace traditional medical care but instead work in harmony with it, aiming to create a holistic approach to wellness.*

The VTCT Level 2 Complementary Therapies course is specifically designed for individuals who are new to the world of holistic health. It offers an introductory exploration of various complementary therapies, their techniques, and the fundamental principles behind each practice.

The qualification provides a balance of practical skills and theoretical knowledge, preparing you for entry-level positions in the complementary therapy field or as a foundation for a Level 3 course, like reflexology, which we offer at the school.

Some of the key areas covered in the course include:

Basic Anatomy and Physiology: Understanding the human body, its systems, and how they relate to complementary therapies.

Health and Safety Practices: Knowledge of hygiene, health regulations, and safe working practices in a therapeutic setting.

Client Consultation: How to communicate effectively with clients, understand their needs, and create a treatment plan tailored to their well-being.
