NSHB Charity Open Day Returns: Join Us in Support of Nelson’s Journey
We’re thrilled to announce that the NSHB Charity Open Day is back on July 5th, and it’s set to be our biggest and most meaningful one yet. If you’re curious about hair, beauty, massage reflexology, aromatherapy or any of the other courses we offer or simply want a relaxing discounted treatment while supporting a fantastic local cause, this event is for you.
Why We Started the NSHB Charity Open Day
The idea for the NSHB Charity Open Day began back in 2010, two years after Sam founded NSHB (Norwich School of Hair and Beauty). Originally, Sam met with prospective students one-to-one, but as interest grew, so did the need for a more accessible format. That’s when the Open Day was born, a way to invite more people to visit the school, explore the facilities, meet the tutors and learn more about our training in a relaxed, welcoming setting.
In 2012, the event evolved into something even more special- a fundraiser. For the first time, past students returned to deliver treatments, raising money for local charities. This year, we’re proud to continue the tradition in support of Nelson’s Journey, a brilliant local organisation that supports bereaved children and young people across Norfolk.
What to Expect at This Year’s NSHB Charity Open Day
This year’s NSHB Charity Open Day will be held on Saturday 5th July, from 11am to 2pm at our training school at Sapphire House, Roundtree Way, Norwich NR7 8SQ.
Here’s what’s happening on the day:
- Discounted treatments by our talented past and present students, including facials, massage, manicures and more.
- Barbering class in action – come see our students showcase their skills live.
- School tours – explore our training rooms and facilities.
- Meet the team – speak to tutors and staff to find out about our courses.
- Raffle prizes, including a FREE Lash Lift Course (worth over £200!)
- Kids activity station – perfect for keeping little ones busy while you enjoy your time.

The Magic of Open Days
Sam describes the atmosphere on Open Day as having a real “buzz.” New visitors often come through the doors not knowing what to expect, but they leave feeling inspired. For many, it’s the first step in a life changing career journey.
“I love seeing people ask questions, watch the treatments and imagine themselves in our students’ shoes,” Sam says. “It’s a huge confidence boost for them and it shows just how much is possible.”
Past Highlights
Looking back at previous events, the impact is clear. Former students who now work in salons or run their own businesses often return to offer treatments, sharing stories of their success. This gives current learners a glimpse of what their future could look like and it’s so rewarding to see.
We’ve hosted Open Days that welcomed over 100 visitors, raised hundreds of pounds for local causes, and helped many people take the first step toward a new career in hair, beauty or massage.
