We were really lucky to have Amy and D’lila join us for a week of work experience. Here is a run down of there week written by them.

Monday: On Monday we came in and we were greeted by the team! We logged ourselves onto the computers in the office and created a mood board about hair and beauty things that we found interesting. 

After that we were asked to be models for the beauty class! One of us had a facial whilst the other sat next to us and watched the techniques used. That was a really good experience and very relaxing! (Not bad work experience laying down for half an hour and getting pampered!) After that we both got a hand and arm massage and then experimented with painting nails. After our lunch break we came back into the office and learned how to sort and file documents which is a useful skill to learn when we start working. 

Tuesday: On our second day, We came in and were shown how to do a French manicure and then we practised on each other. This took a long time for each of us to try and master but we both enjoyed it. Straight after, one of us got a pedicure whilst the other watched the techniques. In the afternoon we both went into the hair room and practised styling each other’s hair. This was one of our favourite days as we got to practise several things with each other and we were very busy.  

Wednesday: On Wednesday we both sat in a reflexology class for the morning, which was very interesting to learn about. In the afternoon we went back into the hair room and washed Amy’s hair, it’s easier than we thought to wash someone else’s hair and this was satisfying to do. We didn’t realise how long it takes to do this though! This took us until the end of the day so we only got to do Amy’s this day.

Thursday: On this day we watched people practise their manicures so we could see some of the techniques. This was very helpful and one of us got a French manicure from someone, which was really good. After lunch we went back into the hair room to wash D’lila’s hair as we didn’t get to do that on Wednesday. This turned out really well and her hair looked really good after. This was also one of my favourite days because of the hair wash. 

Friday: On our final day, it was just D’lila in, in the morning I got another manicure but a plain pink colour this time. This one was really good and looked amazing. In the afternoon i practised some hair styles on the block heads which was good and good to practise techniques.

Overall, our favourite day was Tuesday as we were very busy and had a lot of fun doing two things we knew that we enjoyed and felt confident trying them on each other. This has been a very good and helpful experience for us to see what we want to do in the future.
