Sam

Principal

Sam founded NSHB in 2008 after starting out as an apprentice in Hairdressing. She went on to cut hair around the world, working on sailing yachts from Greece to Australia, before returning to the UK to become a barber and later complete a degree in Leadership and Management, and in her final year starting NSHB.

With a background shaped by hands on experience (and no GCSE’s!), Sam brings genuine empathy to her teaching and leadership.

She’s passionate about giving adults the confidence to learn something new and build a future they love.

In 23/24 Sam completed a City & Guilds Level 2 Floristry course, which involved 2 days a week in class plus 150 hours work experience. She knows first hand that balancing work and learning takes grit and uses that experience to support and inspire her team and learners every step of the way.

A lifelong learner and motivator, Sam says: “Your past doesn’t define your path – you get to write the next chapter.”

Sarah

Vice Principal & Head of Training and Delivery

With over a decade of experience in hairdressing education, Sarah now focuses on supporting the team and ensuring every learner has the best possible experience at NSHB.

Starting out as a Saturday girl at 14, she went on to qualify in Levels 2 & 3 hairdressing, gain advanced colour and assessor qualifications and recently completed a Degree in Leadership & Management, all while juggling an apprenticeship, work, study, getting married and family life!

Having been a teacher, course director and now Vice Principal, Sarah knows what it takes to succeed in this industry and is passionate about helping others do the same. She’s the energetic but steady support behind the scenes making sure everything runs smoothly.

Sarah’s go to quote: “You never fail until you stop trying”.

Peter

Head of Holistic Therapies

Pete is the heart of NSHB’s holistic side, supporting learners with everything from course guidance to mindset. He recently completed his Degree in Leadership & Management and was awarded Apprentice of the Year across City College, Easton and Paston! A massive achievement that reflects just how much he supports everyone around him.

He’s also picked up multiple awards over the years for his commitment, care, and ability to help people believe in themselves; something our learners feel the moment they meet him.

With two grown-up kids and a teenager at home, Pete knows what it means to juggle life, learning and family – and brings that empathy into every conversation at NSHB.

His daily motto is: “Today is going to be a great day!”

Mary

Office Team

Mary is a vital part of the office team at the school, ensuring everything runs smoothly day to day. Mary holds a degree in Graphic design and brings boundless creativity to the business. She transforms ideas into stunning visuals, making her an invaluable asset. With a passion for design and a flair for innovation, Mary adds artistic brilliance to our projects whether it be uniform designs, social media displays or visuals for students.

Mary plays a vital role in the school, ensuring students are equipped and ready to start their courses on their first day, a friendly face and guidance to anyone who may be nervous about starting something new.

When Mary isn’t at the school she works hard on her graphic design and social media management business, Studio Mary. Mary has lots of experience creating logos, branding and social media graphics for businesses across Norfolk and beyond. Make sure to check out her work!

Honey

Office Team

Honey is part of the office team, supporting the day-to-day running of the school with a particular focus on social media, content creation and student support. She helps share life at NSHB online, from course information and student progress to behind-the-scenes moments that reflect the school’s friendly, supportive environment.

Having completed Hairdressing, Barbering and Beauty courses at NSHB herself, Honey has a strong understanding of the student journey and enjoys being a familiar, approachable point of contact for learners. She works closely with the team, helping wherever needed and supporting both students and staff throughout the week.

Honey brings a positive, organised and down-to-earth attitude to her role and takes pride in helping maintain the welcoming atmosphere NSHB is known for. She enjoys helping people feel welcome, supported and informed as they take their next step with NSHB.

Ellie

Office Team & Level 1 Assistant

Ellie is a recent addition to the NSHB office team and supports the day-to-day running of the school alongside assisting on our Level 1 Hair & Beauty course. She is currently studying Level 2 Beauty at NSHB, giving her a great understanding of the student experience and training environment.

Ellie is known for her positive attitude and friendly nature, always bringing a smile to those around her. Outside of the school, she loves dance and theatre.

Ellie’s favourite quote is “One day at a time.”

Rory

Hairdressing/Barbering Tutor & Assistant

Rory is now our tutor for Level 3 Hairdressing and Barbering, and also assists on our Level 2 Hair course. He opened his own successful salon, Authentically You Hair, in Earls Colne before joining us at NSHB, where he completed his Barbering qualification and later stepped into a teaching role.

With experience both on the salon floor and in education, Rory brings a calm, supportive energy that helps learners feel at ease and ready to grow. He creates a space where students feel confident asking questions, making mistakes, and pushing their skills further every week.

He holds qualifications in Level 2 and 3 Hairdressing, wig styling and cutting, Teaching & Education, and Internal Quality Assurance (IQA). His wide-ranging skillset and commitment to high standards make him a valued part of the team, offering expert guidance and encouragement to every student he supports.

Sarah

Hairdressing Tutor

Sarah is a fully qualified hairstylist with experience across Levels 1, 2 and 3, and a strong background in education. She holds both the Level 3 Award in Education and Training and a D32 Assessor Award, making her a brilliant support for learners across our hairdressing courses.

She’s also a L’Oréal Professional Colour Specialist, with additional diplomas in Schwarzkopf and Wella colour techniques, which gives her an incredible depth of knowledge to pass on. Sarah has also completed her Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualification, further strengthening her support in and outside the classroom.

When she’s not assisting on courses, Sarah continues to work in a salon, bringing current, hands-on industry insight to her role. Her mix of up-to-date experience and calm, encouraging energy makes her a go-to for learners who need guidance, reassurance or just a little confidence boost along the way.

Lisa

Hairdressing & Barbering Assistant

Lisa is a trained barber and Level 3 hairdresser who has worked in the industry since she was 16, opening her first salon at just 23. After taking time out to raise her family, she’s now fully back in the salon environment – educating herself further and supporting others as they begin their own journey.

With a natural drive to help people, Lisa feels genuinely honoured to guide those entering the industry. Stepping into this role has reminded her of the depth of knowledge she’s built over the years, often without realising it, and has reignited her passion for both hairdressing and barbering.

Outside of work, she’s a busy mum catching up with life, friends and loved ones. Spending time outdoors is her favourite way to recharge, so if she’s not in the salon, you’ll probably find her outside in her wellies, taking a moment to reset.

Lysa

Barbering Assistant

Lysa is a fully qualified hairdresser with plenty of experience, having worked in two salons specialising in women’s hair and hair extensions.

In 2024, she joined NSHB as a learner herself, choosing to expand her skills into the world of barbering. She quickly found her stride, transferring her hairdressing experience into a new passion – and now assists in our barbering classes with warmth, patience, and encouragement.

Lysa knows exactly what it’s like to return to learning, which makes her a brilliant support to those starting out. She guides learners step by step, always bringing calm energy and reassurance.

Outside of NSHB, you’ll find her working in a local jeweller’s, where she’s been for over 9 years. Or spending quality time with her son, friends and family. Lysa is also currently expecting a little girl, and we couldn’t be happier for her growing family!

Rosie

Massage, Aromatherapy and Reflexology Tutor

Rosie teaches Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Massage, and Level 1 Hair & Beauty at NSHB. With a background as a former primary school teacher, she brings a calm, engaging style that helps learners feel at ease and motivated from day one.

She gained her Aromatherapy qualification in 2013 at our sister school, Jackie Hamilton, and completed her Reflexology Diploma in 2021. Rosie also runs a home-based salon where she offers professional treatments in massage, aromatherapy, reflexology and beauty; giving students first-hand insight into real industry practice.

Her deep knowledge of holistic therapies, combined with her classroom experience, makes her a brilliant support to learners at all levels. Rosie especially loves watching students develop confidence in their skills –  and says her favourite part of aromatherapy is seeing the unique blends students create throughout the course.

Sharyn

Sports Massage Tutor

Sharyn teaches Sports Massage at NSHB, bringing a decade of real-world experience to the classroom. Inspired by a close friend, she discovered her passion for massage after seeing the positive impact it had on her family – and went on to train at our sister school, Jackie Hamilton, completing both her Level 3 and 4 qualifications.

Originally joining us as an assistant, Sharyn now leads our sports massage courses and has completed her Assessor qualification to support learners further in their practical development. She also runs her own business, Studio 79, where she works with a wide range of clients and continues to grow her skillset through advanced CPD, including myofascial release, body reading, pelvic health, and more.

Sharyn’s calm, professional energy puts learners at ease, and her up-to-date industry knowledge gives them a clear insight into what it’s really like to work as a massage therapist.

She lives by the quote: “Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations.”

Flick

Beauty Therapy Tutor

Flick teaches Level 2 and 3 Beauty Therapy at NSHB, bringing a wealth of salon and spa experience to her students. She currently works as a spa manager, which means she’s able to give learners first-hand insights into what employers look for and how the industry really works.

With a calm and down-to-earth approach, Flick creates a supportive space where learners feel encouraged to grow their confidence and skills. She’s passionate about high standards, professionalism, and helping students find their flow in both theory and practical treatments.

Outside of teaching, Flick is a busy mum of two boys and enjoys keeping active at the gym whenever she gets the chance.

Fran

Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy Assistant

Fran has worked in the beauty industry for over 12 years, starting out with her Level 2 Beauty Therapy qualification before discovering a love for hairdressing early in her career. She’s since built a strong reputation across both sides of the industry.

Alongside supporting NSHB, Fran runs her own salon in Dereham, offering a wide range of treatments from facials to expert hair services. She holds additional qualifications in Fashion & Photographic Makeup, Microdermabrasion Facials, and Level 2 Hairdressing – and has even worked with brands like Bedhead and VO5 creating content for social media.

Fran is calm and easy to talk to. She is always ready with a bit of reassurance or a helping hand. She remembers what it’s like to be learning something new, and makes sure students feel supported every step of the way.

When she’s not in the salon, you’ll likely find her out on long walks with her dog or baking something new in the kitchen.

Nadine

Reflexology Therapy Assistant

After 10 years working as a nurse, Nadine decided to retrain in a field that gave her more balance while raising her young children. Having explored Complementary Therapy in her 20s while living in London – and inspired by her own positive experiences with reflexology, she returned to study once her youngest started school.

Since qualifying as a reflexologist in 2018, Nadine has built a thriving practice based in Norwich, where she’s been working for over six years. Her medical background, combined with her holistic training, gives learners a unique and well-rounded perspective in class.

Nadine is known for her calm, approachable energy and is always happy to help. She creates a nurturing learning space and brings genuine passion to her teaching.

Outside of NSHB, she enjoys walking her dog Annie and listening to podcasts on nutrition and well-being.
