Our FREE barber course is specifically designed to develop practical skills to a high level that will enable you to become a professional barber. No previous experience required.

Due to the high number of applicants our enrolment process is on a first come, first served basis if all criteria are met within the timeframe allocated.  To apply, fill in this funding form we will email to let you know if you qualify. 

You’ll train in a salon environment on clients with the support and guidance of our experienced tutors. This prepares you with confidence to work in the industry. 

Throughout the course you’ll master the creative art of cutting, styling men’s hair, along with the specialist work of colouring, perming & cutting facial hair. You’ll develop a range of skills, techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance as a barber.

To further enhance your practical skills and prepare you as an accomplished barber, you’ll learn the theory related to carrying out barbering services. 

On completing the course you’ll achieve, VTCT Level 2 Diploma in Barbering. This is a recognised, modern day qualification. It will allow you to gain professional insurance equipping you for a career either as an employed or self-employed barber.

The barbering and men’s grooming industry is growing with men spending more than ever on their appearances, including the use of hair and beauty products. Barbering is up there in terms of regular and repeat customers, with men visiting their barbers every few weeks, some even sooner! There are many women entering the world of barbering which is bringing new depths to the industry.

The course is absolutely perfect for beginners and no previous experience is needed, we’ll teach you all you need to know! 

This VTCT level 2 barbering course is fully funded, if you meet the criteria (please see the course fees section), which means that the course is free. Please apply using the booking form.

On successfully completing this course, you are eligible to become a graduate State Registered Barber (SRB) with The Hairdressing Council.

The British Barbering Association (BBA) is a professional body that recognises this qualification.

Models:  You will be responsible for providing models, at least 30 models will be required throughout the course. You can advertise for models on our salons booking page.

Assessment: Pre-course projects, course homework, ongoing practical assessments in class and theory exams. Access to a computer is required to complete the course.

FREE – Full funding is available for those:

  • Over the age of 19 on August 31st 2023
  • Resident of Norfolk
  • Resident of the U.K. for a period of 3 years or more (Ukraine citizens do NOT have to wait 3 years)
  • Not currently in any other government-funded training
  • Earn under £20K per year OR unemployed and in receipt of Universal Credit, Job Seekers Allowance or Employment Support Allowance.

Part funding is available if you meet the above criteria but earn over £20K per annum. As a co-funded learner,£1029.20 is payable by yourself. This can be paid in interest-free instalments.

If you are not eligible for full/co-funding the full course price is £3345. This can be paid in interest free instalments.

Course kit 

Please note, you must purchase a professional standard kit to use on the course and at home. Kits are available at a discounted price from one of our suppliers for approximately £550. You will also require student insurance and our uniform which equates to approximately £80.

  • Pay for your kit in 3 interest free installments through our supplier, Ellisons.
  • Plus, you could claim this back within 3 months after the start date. 95% of our students get the cost of their kit, travel and childcare reimbursed.

The course includes exclusive access to our online student area, exam fees, course theory work, specific videos and unlimited support inside and outside of the classroom.
